How it works
What this tool actually measures
It runs your page through Google's PageSpeed Insights and pulls the three Core Web Vitals Google uses as ranking signals. LCP is how long the biggest thing on screen takes to appear, under 2.5 seconds is the target. CLS measures how much the page jumps around while loading; anything over 0.1 is annoying enough to cost you conversions. TBT shows how long the page is frozen because JavaScript is busy. You also get performance, SEO, accessibility and best-practice scores out of 100.
Why speed decides whether you rank
Google confirmed Core Web Vitals as a ranking factor, and sites passing all three gain measurable visibility over sites that do not. The commercial effect is larger than the ranking effect: most visitors abandon a page that takes more than three seconds, and in India a great deal of traffic arrives on mobile data where every extra kilobyte costs real time. A slow site quietly loses customers who never contact you to complain.
The four things that usually cause it
In nine years of fixing sites in Rourkela and across Odisha, the same four causes come up again and again. Huge images. A 4MB photo uploaded straight from a phone, scaled down in the browser instead of before upload. Plugin bloat, fifteen WordPress plugins each loading their own CSS and JavaScript on every page. No caching. The server rebuilds the identical page for every single visitor. Cheap shared hosting. A server so oversubscribed it takes a second to respond before anything can even start loading.
How to fix it without a developer
Start with images: compress everything to WebP and never upload anything wider than 1600px. That single change fixes most sites. Then enable a caching plugin and turn on your host's compression. Deactivate every plugin you cannot name a use for. If the score is still poor after all that, the bottleneck is your hosting, and no amount of optimisation will rescue it.
