Compare Your Site Against a Competitor

Two addresses, one honest comparison. We run the same speed, meta and structure checks on both sites and show you exactly where you are ahead and where you are behind.

Both sites get identical checks. Nothing is sent to the competitor.

Auditing both websites. This takes about 90 seconds…

How it works

What gets compared

Both sites go through identical checks: performance and Core Web Vitals from Google PageSpeed, meta tag health including titles, descriptions, canonicals and structured data, and site structure covering headings, internal links, robots.txt and sitemap. Each site gets a score per area and an overall score, so the gaps are obvious rather than a matter of opinion.

Why comparing beats auditing alone

A score of 62 out of 100 sounds bad in isolation. If the competitor outranking you scores 41, the picture changes completely. Your problem is not technical, it is content or links. If they score 88, you now know exactly why they are above you. Ranking is relative, so a benchmark tells you more than an absolute number ever will.

Choosing the right competitor

Compare against whoever actually ranks above you for the search you care about, not the biggest name in your industry. Search your main keyword in an incognito window, take the top two or three results that are real businesses rather than directories, and test those. Beating a directory listing is a different problem and needs a different approach.

What to do with the gaps

Work on the biggest differences first. If they are much faster, that is usually images and hosting, and it is fixable in days. If their meta and structure scores are higher, that is a content and markup job, fixable in a week. If you are ahead on every technical measure and still ranking below them, the gap is backlinks and local signals, which is a longer, slower project, and the honest answer is that it takes months rather than weeks.

FAQs

Common questions

Does the competitor find out I checked them?
No. We fetch their public pages exactly as any browser or search engine would. There is no notification and nothing is sent to them.
Can I compare more than two sites?
One pair per run, but you can run it repeatedly with different competitors. Most businesses have two or three worth watching.
They score lower but rank higher. Why?
Almost always backlinks, domain age, or a stronger Google Business Profile. Technical health is necessary but not sufficient, it gets you eligible to rank, links and reputation decide the order.
Which competitor should I compare against?
Whoever appears above you for your most valuable search. Not the national brand, and not a directory. A real business you could realistically overtake.
