How it works

What the scan does

It reads the page you enter, extracts every internal link, then checks each one with a lightweight HEAD request. Anything returning a 404, a 500, or failing to resolve is reported as broken. Links that work but pass through a redirect are listed separately, because each redirect hop adds delay and leaks a little ranking signal. We cap the scan at 50 links per run to stay light on your server and ours.

Why broken links quietly cost you money

The obvious cost is the visitor who clicks "Pricing" and lands on an error page. Most do not try again. They go back to Google and click a competitor. The less obvious cost is crawl budget: Google allocates a limited amount of crawling to each site, and every dead URL it follows is a real page it did not get to. On a site with many broken links, new pages take noticeably longer to appear in search.

Where broken links come from

Almost always from ordinary site maintenance. A page gets renamed or deleted but the links to it stay. A product is discontinued. Someone changes a URL structure without adding redirects. An external site you linked to goes offline. On WordPress specifically, changing permalink settings breaks every existing internal link at once unless redirects are set up first.

How to fix them

For a page that moved, add a 301 redirect from the old URL to the new one. That preserves the ranking signal the old URL had earned. For a page that no longer exists and has no replacement, remove or update the links pointing at it and let the URL return a proper 404. Do not redirect everything to the homepage; Google treats that as a soft 404 and it frustrates visitors. Re-run this tool after any redesign or URL change.
